Gloves protocol

  1. Wash your hands with soap as described in the hand washing protocol. Then dry your hands with disposable paper towels
  2. Don examination gloves
  3. Clean your tray or work surface with disinfectant. 
  4. Remove and dispose of the gloves, then wash or disinfect hands with for example sterillium.
  5. Don examination gloves
  6. Take out all your bagged tools, needles, jewelry, sterile field, sterile gloves… All that you need for your procedure. Put it ready on a clean area or put everything in your statim. Try not to forget anything. 
  7. Open sterile field or what you use on the tray. Open the packages and put everything on the field with a no touch technique. (If you work out of the statim, open the cassette, wait for taking your tools out of the cassette until you have your sterile gloves on)
  8. Remove and dispose of the gloves, then wash or disinfect hands with for example sterillium.
  9. Don examination gloves
  10. Do your first disinfecting prep on the client and mark with single use marking tool
  11. Do your second disinfecting prep
  12. Remove and dispose of the gloves, then wash or disinfect hands with for example sterillium.
  13. Don sterile gloves
  14. (Take everything from the cassette if you work with a statim.) Drape your client and perform your piercing procedure
  15. Dispose of your needle in the needle container
  16. Perform the aftercare
  17. Take everything for the trash in your hands and fold into gloves while taking gloves off, so you have 1compact and closed ball to dispose of
  18. Wash or disinfect hands with for example sterillium.
  19. Don examination gloves
  20. Clean and disinfect your tray and chair
  21. Remove and dispose of the gloves
  22. Wash hands with soap
  23. Take a picture of the piercing
